PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

VALCAT has extensive experience in the comprehensive development of renewable energy projects, from identifying ideal locations to commissioning. The phases include:

PHOTOVOLTAIC SELF-CONSUMPTION

VALCAT has completed self-consumption projects with 5 MW in various locations in Spain, covering both surplus and non-surplus modalities, as well as collective self-consumption.

Focus areas include industrial, commercial, residential, collective self-consumption, and energy communities.

Our success lies in optimizing the power of photovoltaic installations to align with consumption profiles, maximizing profitability. We offer varied financing options and manage legalization according to RD 244/2019.

We provide advice in negotiations with energy suppliers for surplus energy sales, offering comprehensive post-installation operation and maintenance services.

VALCAT, with a strong track record in turnkey projects, specializes in power production installations for connection to the distribution or transport grid. We stand out for using high-quality standards in equipment selection and execution.

We advise clients on finding financing for these investments and have successfully executed over 100 MW in Europe, participating in projects in Spain and Italy.

Additionally, we have completed 10 MW grid connection projects in San Juan, Argentina, and participated in electrification with lithium battery storage in Jujuy Province, Argentina.

TECHNICAL AUDITS

VALCAT excels in conducting technical audits for photovoltaic plants, assessing their performance, and proposing improvements. These audits include:

  • Assessment of the operating state through performance analysis, inspection, and thermographic studies.
  • Providing technical support and administrative management for buying and selling operations of photovoltaic plants.
  • Generating detailed expert reports to support our technical evaluations.

REVAMPING OF PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANTS

VALCAT is specialized in the revamping and retrofitting of photovoltaic plants under decrees RD 661/2007 and RD 1578/2009 connected to the electrical grid. To date, more than 30 MW have been built in different plants.

The most important aspects we deal with are:

  • Technology type
  • Study of photovoltaic modules and inverters
  • Reconfiguration of the solar field and support structure
  • Start up
  • Legalization of the changes made

Operation and Maintenance Management

VALCAT operates and maintains 70 MW of power in approximately 50 photovoltaic plants distributed in Spain, Chile and Argentina, both on the ground and on the roof.

Currently, we are national leaders in operation and maintenance of rooftop photovoltaic installations of less than 100 kW of power.

The services we offer in the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic plants are the following:

  • Monitoring (24/7) of photovoltaic plants
  • Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance in low and medium voltage
  • Reports on the evolution of production and incidents
  • Review of support structures
  • Technical assistance
  • Visual inspections of modules
  • Thermographic inspections of photovoltaic plants (carried out with a drone)
  • I-V curves made to analyze the degradation of the modules
  • Vegetation control and cleaning of modules if necessary
  • Management of the security system and alarm receiving center (CRA)
  • Plant stock management

MANAGEMENT OF BESS STORAGE SYSTEMS

VALCAT is developing energy storage projects, both stand-alone and hybridization in grid-connected photovoltaic plants.

We study the most optimal way to obtain income through three large differentiated groups:

  • Price arbitrage in the daily market and intraday markets, to store energy at times of higher renewable production and lower prices, and pour the energy back into the grid at times of higher demand and higher prices.
  • Participation in adjustment services. In these services, the batteries offer their power and stored energy to be used if the system operator needs it, in exchange for remuneration.
  • Capacity payments

GREEN HYDROGEN PROJECTS

Green hydrogen has become the most important energy vector for the production of electrical and thermal energy.

In the coming years, it will be essential for the electrification of transport and sustainable mobility that will partly replace fossil fuels.
